Expressing concern after media reports about the local Iranian officials in the Albanian capital, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kana'ani said the country is concerned of the news about Iranian diplomats in Albania.
His remarks come as media reports announced that local officials in Tirana had interacted improperly with the Iranian Embassy and its staff.
“The Albanian government will be responsible for the consequences of violation, in case the news is true,” he noted.
Prior to this, on Wednesday, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said that Albania is ending diplomatic relations with Iran and has ordered Iranian diplomats and embassy staff to leave within 24 hours and announced “The government has decided with immediate effect to end diplomatic relations with Iran.”
